Treatment of coronal ulcers with Magmar Skin Ointment
A story about how Magmar Skin Salve helped heal a strange wound on the pony Goldie's one crown stripe in the fall of 2023.

Goldie has a wound on her hoof that we have no idea how it came about. We first saw the wound exactly two weeks ago. We have thought it has gotten better from time to time but today I took her to the vet as all the good advice hasn't helped.
Spoke with Agriveterinär initially and a friend who is a veterinarian. But today we could not wait any longer or try to cure it ourselves. He is neither lame nor sore, he does not have a fever either. Completely painless to the touch.

On September 16th when the vet came out for the first time, it looked like this after shaving. The vet was puzzled and scratched his head, brought a swab to the clinic. Until then, he will be cared for as we have done. Dry pasture and wrap the hoof... Clean and apply honey ointment was what she recommended and wrap the hoof to keep it clean. I was given cortisone to clean with and to put directly on the wound.
We have had treatment now since Monday. Cortisone spray once a day and cleaning with chlorhexidine shampoo every other day. Unfortunately, it has not given the results we wanted, so now I hope that we will get an appointment at the clinic on Monday. The referral has been sent and I am waiting for a call from there today. The picture was taken yesterday after cleaning.
The blood test results have come back, it showed nothing. When they examined him, they could see a small change on the coronal border also on the left front leg, so now we are waiting for the biopsy sample. But they were skeptical that it would show anything.
The picture was taken when we went to the vet and took a biopsy sample, which was negative, however they didn't know if they got enough samples as it is difficult to take that sample.
We continued to clean and lubricate with honey ointment and wrap the hoof.

We think it was an ointment that will be advertised in Aftonbladet tomorrow that finally helped. Magmar Skin Salve . I think it was a success! We switched to it in mid-November. Then it went quickly!
The healing went much faster with Magmar Salvan. The advantage of it was that it lays on top like an extra layer of skin and stays put. It had been a little purulent in places and it disappeared after 2–3 weeks.

Now the "scar" has grown downwards and we continue to apply Magmar ointment every day to maintain the wound and hope that it is enough to avoid problems when it has grown downwards and it is time to stitch the area...
