About EQUIE ECO and its history
The creator of Equie Eco's products is Jonna Borg Zeidlitz.
Jonna breeds competition horses and runs courses at the Norrängen farm outside Västerås.
Here is her story about the emergence of Equie Eco.
"The fact that the wheat heater came into being in the first place was due to a riding accident. The accident occurred at a show jumping competition at Strömsholm in November 2016. Our horse "Grodan" came towards the last obstacle and looked at a phone screen that flashed and he reacted and "lost" a front leg. The boom ended up between his front legs and locked him in the landing, he fell carelessly and landed at high speed on his neck that bent like an L. We in the stands were waiting for a bang, for his neck to break, but the bang never came. Thank goodness. Not a fun experience for either Grodan, the rider (who had landed in the sand and found gravel in his ears several days after the fall) or for the audience in the stands. The competition was closed until we saw that the horse and rider were able to walk out of the riding hall on their own.
The competition veterinarian examined the horse, made sure that no teeth were broken, that he was in good spirits and in condition to be able to travel home safely.
Once home, our minds began to wander, to find a way to keep the injured muscles soft. We asked around, googled and searched for a product to place on the injured area. We had him strictly under the supervision of a veterinarian and equine masseur, to determine how we should proceed. Since we could not detect more than a certain stiffness, the choice was to treat with heat. No such product existed no matter how we looked, so we simply had to produce it ourselves. That meant that the first edition was created. This was the starting point for Equie Eco.”
